What is your refund policy?

- If you cancel 24 hours or more before tour- 100% refund
- If you cancel within 24 hours of tour but more than 2 hours prior- 50% refund
- If we cancel tour due to weather- 100% refund
- If you do not show up or call before your tour time or cancel within 2 hours- Not eligible for a refund
- No rider may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of participation in our tour. In such cases, no refunds will be given.

What if there's inclement weather?
If there is a chance for bad weather during your tour time, we will contact your group 1-2 hours before your tour time to discuss options. We do tour in light rain and will provide ponchos to guests in the event of precipitation while touring. We do cancel tours where the radar shows heavy rain, thunder and/or lightening, snow or ice.

Segways run in fog, light rain or cold weather. Segways are designed to run in any weather except heavy rain and puddles are its worst enemy. Water will ruin the machines. If the weather is bad we will work with you on finding a new ride date and time, don’t worry, we don’t want you to miss this.

If your tour is cancelled, you will receive a full refund or we can discuss rescheduling options with you (pending availability).

What is the minimum age requirement?
12 years old. No exceptions. 

Is there a weight restriction?
Segway, Inc. does suggest riders be between 100-260lbs. However, here at iRide we don't strictly abide by this weight range suggestion. We know that our guests come in all shapes and sizes, and try our best to accommodate all. Because safety is important, we do ask that all riders have good balance and be able to stand for the duration of their tour. Feel free to call us at 615-905-6263 with any questions!

What is the best way to book a tour?

Do we make stops or breaks?
Yes, we do take periodic breaks to rest and also for picture taking.

Do you provide helmets?
Yes, we provide and require helmets for every person on tour.

What do we need to wear?
We encourage everyone to wear comfortable clothing and comfortable, flat shoes as you'll be on your feet for the duration of the tour. We do allow open-toed shoes. Please dress for the weather! 

Can you take more than 6 people on tour if we have a larger group/corporate group?

Can I bring a camera?
Yes, each Segway has a handlebar bag where you can store small items including your camera.

What is a Segway? How does it work?


The Segway Human Transporter is the first of its kind – a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Segways are easy to use and operate and usually takes new riders 10 minutes of training to learn. The two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes that monitor your balance 100 times a second and automatically respond to your body’s movements. To move forward, the rider simply leans forward. To stop or move backwards, the rider leans back slightly. The rider glides smoothly as the Segway senses where you want to go. How do I learn to ride a Segway?

All first time customers are required to take a on board training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Training time is generally part of the overall tour time. Riders are trained on safe Segway operation and emergency stops. Training  includes a 10 minute safety video. Riders are required to wear helmets.

How long, fast and far can I ride?
The Segway has a top speed of 12.5 miles per hour. Some tours operate at slower more pedestrian friendly speeds. with Lion (Lithium Ion) batteries a rider can average about 24 miles between battery charges. A fully charged Lion ( Lithium Ion) battery will last with constant riding for approximately 6 hours.

Riding times vary with hills, rider weight and speed. Segway has key settings that limit the top speed. Most tours will start at a lower training / turtle speed setting. Each tour location determines the appropriate top speed for its local route and conditions. With many routes through crowded streets and city centers speed is reduced for a relaxed cruise and safety.

Who can ride a Segway? Are Segways safe for children or people with disabilities? What about pregnant women?

Riding a Segway is similar to riding a bike – it’s intuitive but nobody is born knowing how to operate it. All tours offer training so you can get familiar with the device. A Segway is not an ideal mode of touring for people with some mobility or BALANCE issues.

All guests must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without any assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without assistance or use of a handrail.

Segway riding is not recommended for pregnant women. Unfortunately, pregnant women will not be permitted to participate in these tours. You will practice on the Segways until you feel comfortable and are ready to tour.

All damage to the Segway is the responsibility of the rider.
 Everything has a cost if damaged, from kickstands to a complete wipeout, it is all itemized. Please keep in mind that each Segway costs over $6,000.
